It is impossible for every idea, conversation, or essay to flow the same way at all times, but aim to have all the parts listed below in your essay.
Introduction Paragraph (Tough to go in the order below at all times)
Body Paragraph (Easy to follow the order below)
Conclusion Paragraph (This can be any order)
Introduction Paragraph (Tough to go in the order below at all times)
- Introduce the reader to the text(s) you are writing about as well as the general theme/message of your essay,
- Outline the paper and suggest the body order,
- Thesis.
Body Paragraph (Easy to follow the order below)
- Topic Sentence (This has to come first - 100% of the time),
- A couple sentences about your topic of the body paragraph,
- Quote to prove your couple of sentences,
- Summarize the quote or explain how it is relative,
- Connect your body paragraph's topic to your thesis or transition into your next paragraph.
Conclusion Paragraph (This can be any order)
- Rewrite your thesis using totally different words than you did in your introduction paragraph,
- Without using the word "I" explain why the message/theme of your essay is important. Think, so what?
